The Peer2Peer Knowledge Sharing Network’s
Learn Session
Excel Essentials for Project Application
Be a Pro of Summary Statistics: Foundational Excel Functions and Table Formatting
Sayaka Koseki, Presenter
The Peer2Peer Knowledge Sharing Network is excited to bring its first Learn Session. This is a first of a three-session series on Excel, where you will learn tools and tricks that you can apply to your daily work, whether it’s to construct a complex database or to manage project expenditures. Knowing your way around Excel can make your work easier and faster, and well-presented spreadsheets can be a great decision-making tool.
During this session, we will go over key Excel short-cuts and functions to calculate and present summary statistics. This will be the foundation to the second session which will cover more complex database development formulas and the third session on macros. Sayaka will share examples from her project work in Uganda. Participants are encouraged to work along on their computers during the session to puzzle through the example in real time (bring your computer if you are attending in the conference room).
Sayaka is a Senior Analyst in the International Health Division. She is the Technical Coordinator for the SHOPS project, supporting the Kenya and Uganda country programs. In Uganda, SHOPS is implementing a maternal health voucher program, and Sayaka tracks the use of 26,000 vouchers using excel. Sayaka’s other exciting Excel accomplishments include using macros to gather data from 80 excel files into one for a costing exercise and developing a template for activity expenditure tracking that summarizes oracle dump data.
