presents:
Excel Essentials for Project Application
Introduction to Excel Database Development Formulas: Focus on Lookups
Annelise Mesler, Presenter
The Peer2Peer Knowledge Sharing Network presents its second Learn Session in a three-part series on Excel Essentials. This session is an introduction to more complex database development formulas, focused on lookups and reference formulas. It also includes tips for creating clear, reproducible Excel analyses. The session is intended to demonstrate and start a discussion of Excel best-practices and tips that will be useful for all staff who use Excel to manage and analyze data.
The presentation will walk through a live example using data from an ERD project linking Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) data to electric utility fuel consumption. Participants are encouraged to work along on their computers during the session and complete the example in real time (bring your computer if you are attending in the conference room). Files will be available for download prior to the session.
Annelise is an Associate Analyst in the Environment and Resources Division. She uses Excel in a variety of projects, including for policy and data analysis using data from EPA’s publically available Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) database. Annelise uses VLOOKUP frequently for her projects and has more recently learned the power of MATCH and INDEX-MATCH formulas for project work application.
