Dear Mr Tsotskolauri,

The ISSA Bureau has given me the honour of shortlisting me as one of the candidates for the position of Secretary General. It is with great pleasure that I present myself to you in view of the vote to be held in Geneva in December, which will appoint the new Secretary-General.

I am 47 years old and I graduated in Political Science from the University of Brussels. At the start of my career I worked in a consultancy firm and a study center focusing on social security. During the following decade I then took up positions in ministers' offices in charge of employment, health and social security.

In 2009, I was appointed to my current position by the Belgian government as the Director General for Disability Insurance at the National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance.

I also hold positions in various international organizations.

Of course, I am very active in ISSA where I am Vice-Chairman of the Pensions Technical Committee. Among my activities in ISSA, I worked on the guidelines on return to work and those on difficult to cover groups.

I am also vice-president of Rehabilitation International and chairman of the Disability and Rehabilitation Committee of ESIP (European Social Insurance Platform), the largest European federation of social security institutions.

Today, I wish to present my candidacy to lead ISSA, our association.
