While most people are talking about Corona, we are among the few that have been working to make sense of the massive amount of data being published.
It gives me pleasure to share the new Online Interactive COVID-19 Tool that serves as a companion to the our Muhanna Policy Note we published earlier this month.
As an actuarial and economic consulting firm, we are trying to contribute to policy discussions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, by providing a framework to analyze the impact of this crisis through a social protection lens.

The first couple slides of this tool highlight the extent of the pandemic from a simple demographic perspective. The slides that follow explore the relationship of each country’s region, average age of its population, quality of healthcare and its GDP. The user can navigate through the tool using the arrows as the bottom. The tool is most powerful when the user compares any set of countries versus their respective regions and groups of countries that have similar average age bracket.
Most importantly, we hope it helps policy makers take the right decision in balancing between containment of the virus and safe guarding the economy. i.e. what works for Germany will not work for Tanzania.
