Bucharest: Be aware of ongoing demonstrations at Victoriei Square Bucharest and others major cities around the country. Istanbul: On 10 October 2016 the DO in consultation with the SMT decided that the advance coordination for individual missions to Turkey is no longer required. The same requirement for external workshops and events remains in place.

UPDATED INFORMATION ON ISTANBUL AIRPORT RELOCATION - 30-31 October 2018

1.General Directorate of State Airports of Turkey has stated that the inauguration date of the New Istanbul International Airport - Monday, 29 October 2018 - has not changed. Officials confirmed that the initial daily capacity of the New Airport will be between 10-16 flights (domestic or international) with international flights by Turkish Airlines to Azerbaijan and North Cyprus only. Ground Transport service to the New International Airport will be provided by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

2. Kindly be advised on the following
:
a. Atatürk Airport will remain fully functional until 30 December 2018.
b. The New Istanbul International Airport will be operational at its full capacity from 01 January 2019.
c. Ataturk Airport’s IATA Code (IST) will be transferred to the new airport accordingly.
d. Transportation of the airport equipment and heavy machinery between Atatürk Airport and the New International Airport is planned to start at 01:00 a.m. on 30 December and end on 31 December 2018. Road traffic congestion is expected in the direction from Yeşilköy to the Arnavutkoy District.
3. UN Personnel and their dependants are advised to plan their official and private travels accordingly. During the airports transition time, it is recommended to check transportation status for road travel via municipality services in advance and use the alternate routes, if necessary.
