You represent your country in the ISSA Council, which is due to elect the new Secretary General of the ISSA on 7th December in Geneva.

I am candidate to this position. The ISSA already sent you some information about my application and profile. Nonetheless, I believe indispensable and courteous introducing myself directly to you, beyond disembodied documents. I therefore write you to complement the information you already have, and I take advantage of this opportunity to outline my vision, my project and my assets to manage the ISSA.

The ISSA has a prestigious legacy, but needs new momentum. The election of the Secretary General is therefore strategic for its future. You know, because it is your daily commitment, that strong demand of Social Security both at global and local level raises huge operational and financial challenges. ISSA purpose is to help you finding efficient and innovative solutions, and at the same time to promote the cause Social Security worldwide to ease and strengthen your action.

To achieve these goals ISSA must become more visible, more influential with other stakeholders, more effective, so that it should no longer lose members and restore its attractiveness. To catch up, ISSA must work more closely with all other stakeholders of international social protection, including the ILO, build on its work of recent years, strengthen good practices sharing among members, within a transparent and quality governance.

ISSA needs leadership and a vision for its future, relying on a manager with a broad experience and strong skills, able to encompass the large range of issues in all the domains that ISSA members administer (health, pensions, unemployment, etc.). Being the only ‘outside’ candidate having successfully completed the whole selection process and agreed by ISSA Selection Committee, demonstrates that my personal and professional profile are adequate and convincing, in particular my commitment and expertise in social protection issues, but also my managerial experience at the highest level in two highly relevant domains for ISSA, namely public policies and international relations. I strongly believe that my comprehensive and diversified career is a real asset to lead the ISSA in the years to come, at a key moment of its existence.
